Timed Tempo Run This Saturday - Feb.22nd

E-mail Print PDF
We are 5 weeks away from the CR ½ Marathon! (yep, it is right around the corner)
Every year at this time we arrange a timed run on RT52 as a workout.

…This year we are changing the location!
Delcastle Recreation Center
Meeting at the main parking lot near the tennis courts.

The run will begin promptly at 7:30 with a 1 ¾ mile warm-up on the “inner loop”
The Workout will be two “outer loops” with each mile marked. (for a distance of 7.2 miles) and for those that want to continue they can finish with the inner loop (total workout run about 9 miles).
Jim Walsh is setting up the clock and the mile marks.

It is a great way to test your legs before race season begins. The run is open to anyone so please invite your friends that might be interested (of course there is no charge). Any questions, contact Jim Walsh 302-383-7246 …we actually may have good running conditions for this.
Friday, February 21st is the Delaware High School State Indoor Track Championship – being held in Landover MD.
Thank you to all of our officials from the Delaware Sports Club for their dedication to our young athletes!

Canceled - Annual DE Intra-Club Challenge

E-mail Print PDF
Saturday’s intra-club challenge has been cancelled!
The course conditions at Bellevue State Park is very treacherous. After several loops of the course it was determined to be unsafe. The intent of the intra-club challenge has always been to create a fun, relaxing environment where the members of all of the club within the state to compete and enjoy each other’s company. It was a great way to break up the monotony of winter training and see which events our friends were preparing for. The course condition would not allow anyone to relax and would put many at risk for injury.
The event may be postponed, but currently a date has not been set.

Boston Marathon Bus Trip

E-mail Print PDF
Boston Marathon 2014 is going to be a very special year.
Already several club members and local runners have registered for the race next Spring. We assure you - The Delaware Running Club is committed to continuing the tradition of organizing our annual Boston Bus Trip. A club member, Lee Kaufmann, has volunteered to take over for Doug White who has managed the trip for several years. We are thankful for everything Doug has done to make this trip go smoothly for so many of us. Information about the trip will be available soon. Lee is already reserving hotel rooms for the group. But please consider this as an exceptional way to experience Boston with many of your fellow runners.
